Change Is In The Air

One key to successful leadership is continuous personal change. Personal change is a reflection of our inner growth and empowerment."— Robert E. Quinn

You hopefully have noticed that you are not on the same familiar site byershome.com anymore.

In an effort to do more with personal branding I am moving my blog here to joshbyers.com. I was lucky enough to acquire it last year when somebody let it go. In the world of freelance web and graphic design a personal name means a lot more than a company name. I will still be operating officially as Red Letters Studio but I am making more of a concentrated effort to brand my name in the area of design.

The only major changes to the site is obviously the design, I added a portion of my portfolio, there is a contact page, and I am once again pointing everyone to Flickr to view all of the pictures.

I don't see the content of the blog changing much, though I would like to post more often.

Those of you who have subscribed through email and rss don't have to do anything. You should still continue to get notified whenever the blog is updated. Contact me if you do encounter problems.

Our email addresses have not changed either. You can still reach us at josh(at)byershome.com and mickie(at)byershome.com.

Anybody Hungry?

I have long been annoyed with raving lunacy of PETA.

I understand that we shouldn't tie firecrackers to a cat's tail, but boy would it be somethin! No seriously I like most animals but I draw the line at giving them more special treatment than most humans. Since my birthday is coming up in a few months I wanted to give you all a head start on my gift. Don't bother getting me the vegitarian starter kit because I would much prefer this t-shirt...

Oh, and in other news Mia recently converted to Judaism...

Soccer is Ridiculous

Soccer will never become a mainstream professional sport in the United States.

I'm not saying this because we lost or because I'm a soccer hater. I was really excited for the World Cup. In fact I recorded the US games and shut out the sports world those days so I wouldn't find out what happened until I was able to watch them. But when so much of the game rests in the hands of an official I have a problem with it.

Sure there are bad calls in other sports but in those sports there are multiple opportunites to legitimately score. If you go down a goal in a soccer match (much less the World Cup) you can pretty much forget about winning. That is why the missed calls are so frustrating. Why should I invest my valuable time to see some guy fall down and clutch his face in agony after being tapped on the shin? I guess the Americans should learn how to dive better...

Panoramas from Israel

On our trip to Israel I took around 2000 photos. Most all of them are available to view and download from Flickr. I also took different series of photos that I would later stich into panoramic pictures. I have been working on this project for the past couple of days and you can see 10 different panoramic shots from the Holy Land.

You can click on the pictures below to see larger versions or follow this link to the whole set on Flickr with the original sized images.

See the rest of the panoramas here.
