Courtship or Dating?

Aug 15, 2014

The real issue is that we don't trust our kids to make good decisions. We're horrified at the thought of them dating because we assume they will make terrible decisions.

There is a lack of trust in God's sovereignty.

There is a lack of trust in the work of the Holy Spirit.

The issue still is not giving away your heart and making an idol out of another person, relationship or feeling. This can happen whether you wear homemade clothes and court or...

When we commit idolatry its because we have failed to apply the gospel.

I don't need the love of this person to survive because I have all the love I'll ever need in Jesus.

The fun part about growing up is acting like an adult.

Counteract the hookup culture

No reason to be in a relationship until you're ready to be married

What is "ready to be married?"

How do I prepare my kids to deal with the pressure of needing to be in a relationship?

What is appealing about a relationship?

attraction, knowing that person thinks about you differently than anyone else, physical desires met, knowing they are there for you, security, fun to be with someone you like

How can I meet those desires in the context of a family relationship?

Dad: do not take from your kids. Give, give, give.

If you want to go out to a movie with a boy fine, but he had to understand that there is no possibility of a relationship and he should not try to win your heart.

Really how can we biblically approach relationships and finding a mate in our culture?
